Plants vs. Zombies 2 Addon v2.3.2 brings the lane-defense world of Plants vs. Zombies 2 into Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Grow and deploy more than fifty plants, fight themed zombie variants, collect Sun, Coins, Gold Coins and Gems, use plant-food abilities, meet Crazy Dave, play world music and challenge bosses such as Dr. Zomboss. This guide is based on the files included in the addon and explains what is implemented, what is experimental and what is not part of this pack.
Build a garden, turn the battlefield into a living defense line and let every plant animation trigger its own attack, projectile, sound or special effect.

4. How to Obtain and Use Content
- Enable the Behavior Pack and its linked Resource Pack in the same world.
- Use Creative inventory or spawn eggs for quick testing.
- In Survival, defeat zombies and bosses for loot. Regular zombies can drop Rotten Flesh, Coins, Gold Coins, Sunflower Sprouts, Gems, Plant Food and rare music records.
- Treasure Yeti loot includes Yeti's Lunchbox. Dr. Zomboss loot can include a Golden Trophy, a music record, the Almanac and Gems.
- Use the namespace form
pvz:item_id when using commands.
- Spawn eggs are available for many plants, zombies and utility entities.
- Spawn eggs are not dragon eggs and are not incubated.
- The addon contains no egg hatching timer, breeding recipe or animal offspring system.
- To create a mob instantly, use a spawn egg or a command such as
/summon pvz:peashooter.
- Place a plant in a suitable open position. Use a Lilypad for water planting and a Flower Pot where the plant requires a pot.
- Use Sun as the addon resource for plant-related progression and use Plant Food for boosted or special attacks.
- Use the Watering Can on supported garden plants. The pack includes water particles and plant watering controllers.
- Use Fertilizer, Phonograph or Bugspray where the plant supports those garden interactions.
- Use the Garden Shovel to remove a plant or clear a garden position. Exact behavior depends on the plant controller.
- Plants and zombies are not tameable pets in the included files.
- There is no general dragon riding or flying system.
- Garden Trolley and Penny are vehicle-style entities. Test mounting and leash interaction in a world with Experimental Gameplay enabled.
- The lawn and brain-lawn controllers indicate saddle-related game behavior, but this is not a universal ride or flight mechanic for every mob.
- Collect Sun drops from the world and from Sun-producing plants.
- Collect Coins, Gold Coins and Gems from zombie loot and boss rewards.
- Collect Plant Food from regular zombie loot and use it on compatible plants.
- Defeat bosses for trophies, records, the Almanac and larger Gem rewards.
- Use Gold Magnet or Magnet-shroom mechanics to interact with metallic or coin-related drops where supported.

The recipe files define only these four crafting-table recipes. Plant packets, spawn eggs, coins, tools and boss rewards should be obtained through Creative inventory, loot, trades or commands unless a separate recipe is added by a future version.

Use the Creative inventory to confirm the exact spawn-egg item identifier on your Bedrock build. Some identifiers are exposed through the spawn-egg language entries while direct summon identifiers are the more reliable testing method.
- Back up your world before adding the addon.
- Import or copy both folders,
PlantsvsZoBe and PlantsvsZoRe, into the appropriate Bedrock development or pack location.
- Open Minecraft Bedrock and edit the target world.
- Activate the Behavior Pack
PlantsvsZoBe.
- Activate the linked Resource Pack
PlantsvsZoRe.
- Keep both packs enabled together. The Behavior Pack manifest depends on the Resource Pack UUID, and the Resource Pack depends on the Behavior Pack UUID.
- Enable all Experimental Gameplay options requested by the pack. The language description explicitly says to turn on all experimental gameplay settings.
- Move the PvZ packs above conflicting packs in the world pack list when another pack changes the same vanilla entities, UI, textures, sounds or animation controllers.
- Create a test world, then verify a plant, a zombie, a spawn egg, a recipe and a sound before opening your main survival world.
- When updating, remove old duplicate copies first. Do not keep multiple versions with the same UUID or overlapping PvZ files.
The manifests declare only a minimum engine version of 1.17.0. The table below is a practical compatibility expectation, not a guarantee of testing on every minor release. Newer Bedrock versions may require fixes to old entity components, commands, UI bindings or experimental APIs.
| Bedrock version |
Status |
Reason |
| 1.17.x |
Partial |
Declared minimum engine version, but the current pack is designed for newer PvZ content and was not declared as a 1.17-specific release. |
| 1.18.x to 1.19.x |
Partial |
Core legacy JSON may load, but recipes, commands, UI and experimental behavior can differ. |
| 1.20.0 to 1.20.80 |
Good |
Matches the stated Minecraft PE 1.20+ target and the legacy Bedrock JSON format used by the pack. |
| 1.21.0 to 1.21.90 |
Partial |
Likely to load with experiments, but newer engine validation can expose old component or command issues. |
| 1.22.x to 1.25.x |
Partial |
Not guaranteed by the manifests. Test all entities, UI, recipes, sounds and animations after importing. |
| 1.26.0 and newer |
Not supported |
No manifest or included file confirms compatibility with 1.26+. Use only after a complete community or author update and testing pass. |
| Problem |
Solution |
| Plants or zombies appear invisible |
Enable the matching Resource Pack, place it above conflicting visual packs and verify that both pack dependencies are active. |
| Entities do not spawn |
Enable Experimental Gameplay, test with /summon, confirm the namespace is pvz: and check that the Behavior Pack is active. |
| Recipes do not appear |
Use a crafting table, confirm the Behavior Pack is active and test the four recipes listed in this guide. |
| Plants do not attack |
Check that the Behavior Pack is loaded above conflicting behavior packs and that the world has the required experimental settings enabled. |
| Sun or currency does not update |
Run /function currencysystem, then collect the relevant item and check that the scoreboard objectives were created. |
| Music does not play |
Enable the Resource Pack, place the Music Box, insert a supported record and check device volume and sound settings. |
| Game crashes or logs content errors |
Test in a fresh world, remove duplicate pack copies, disable conflicting packs and try the recommended 1.20 range. |
| World behaves strangely after removal |
Restore the backup. Removing an addon from a world can leave custom entities, blocks or scoreboards behind. |
- Does this addon add dragons? No. The files describe plants, zombies, utility entities and bosses, not dragons.
- Can I hatch eggs? No. Spawn eggs create entities immediately; there is no incubation system.
- Can I tame the plants or zombies? No general taming system is included.
- Can every mob be ridden or flown? No. Vehicle-style entities such as Garden Trolley and Penny have special behavior, but plants and zombies are not universal mounts.
- Do I need Experimental Gameplay? Yes. The included pack description explicitly requests all experimental gameplay settings.
- Are all items craftable? No. Only four recipe files are included. Many packets, tools, spawn eggs and rewards are obtained through Creative inventory, loot, trades or commands.
- What does Dr. Zomboss reward? The loot table includes a Golden Trophy, a music record, the Almanac and Gems. Defeating him also runs a reward and achievement function.
- What does the Treasure Yeti drop? Its loot table gives Yeti's Lunchbox, with the exact final count affected by the configured loot functions.
- Why does an update break something? The pack uses older Bedrock JSON, commands and experimental systems. New engine versions can change validation or behavior.
- What is the load order for the two packs? Activate both together, keep the linked Resource Pack available to the Behavior Pack, and put the PvZ pair above packs that overwrite the same files.

Final note: Keep a backup of every world before installing or updating this addon. Because the pack relies on experimental gameplay, legacy JSON formats and two dependent packs, a clean test world is the fastest way to isolate compatibility problems.
