Night changes everything in
The Shadows of Midnight Remaster v2. Strange figures emerge in the Overworld darkness, powerful hunters can inflict debilitating effects, and even the mysterious trader may be more than he first appears. This Bedrock add-on is designed to make survival more dangerous, with six custom entities, eerie sounds, and a craftable Ghost spawn egg.
The Shadows of Midnight Remaster v2 adds six entities to Minecraft Bedrock: Demon’s Shadow, Midnight Shadow, The Shadow Stalker, The Black Devil, The Trader, and Friendly Ghost. Most are hostile creatures that can appear in dark Overworld locations. The Trader offers unusual exchanges, while the Ghost can be tamed.
The add-on includes both behavior and resource packs. The behavior pack controls entity behavior, spawning, trades, and the Ghost spawn-egg recipe. The resource pack supplies models, textures, animations, sounds, and English names.

| Midnight Shadow |
A tough melee pursuer that can appear in dark Overworld locations. |
Configured with 600 health and 21 attack damage. |

Configured with 2,500 health, 21 attack damage, and a Wither effect on attack. |
| The Black Devil |
A powerful hostile entity that can spawn on the surface or underground under the listed Overworld spawn conditions. |
Configured with 1,200 health and 21 attack damage. |
| The Trader |
A wandering, interactable entity with a custom trade table. Approach carefully, as its spawn rules classify it with monsters. |
Configured with 250 health. Its listed offers include food, equipment, an Enchanted Golden Apple, and a Totem of Undying. |
| Friendly Ghost |
A tamable Ghost with an unexpectedly strong melee attack. The friendly name does not mean it is harmless before taming. |
Configured with 21 attack damage and a taming probability of 0.33 per attempt. Its health value is set extremely high in the entity file. |
Most custom hostile spawn rules target the Overworld and use low-light conditions for surface spawning. Underground conditions differ, so an entity may be able to spawn underground at other light levels. Exact encounters depend on the world and its spawn settings.
- Find or summon entities: Explore the Overworld and watch for hostile entities in dark locations. For a direct test, use one of the summon commands in the command section below.
- Obtain the Ghost spawn egg: Craft it at a crafting table using the recipe listed below. The behavior pack contains a recipe for the Ghost egg; it does not list crafting recipes for the other custom spawn eggs.
- Use a spawn egg: A spawn egg summons an entity when used. These are spawn eggs, not biological eggs: there is no incubation, hatching, or growth process in this add-on.
- Tame the Ghost: The Ghost’s behavior definition has a taming component and an item whitelist. Hold an accepted item and interact with the Ghost to make a taming attempt. The configured chance is 33% per attempt, so a failed attempt may require another item and another try. Check the in-game interaction prompt for the exact accepted items on your version.
- Raise or breed creatures: The add-on does not document a breeding, baby, or creature-raising system. Do not expect a growth or breeding loop for these entities.
- Ride or fly: The entity files do not define rideable mounts or flying controls. The custom creatures are not intended to be ridden or flown.
- Collect materials: The add-on does not provide a resource-gathering progression based on these mobs. Its loot tables do not establish a dependable set of custom drops; use the Trader’s listed exchanges for the add-on’s documented item offers.

Interact with The Trader to open its trade interface. Offers may depend on the entity and the active behavior pack.
This add-on does not add a custom equipment set. Its main special combat effects come from the creatures themselves:
- The Shadow’s configured attack can inflict Darkness.
- The Shadow Stalker’s configured attack can inflict Wither.
- The behavior pack includes utility functions that apply effects such as Darkness, Nausea, Slowness, and Weakness. These are separate from a wearable gear system; use them only if you intend to trigger their effects.
- The Trader offers a Diamond Sword, an Enchanted Golden Apple, and a Totem of Undying in exchange for the items listed above.
Commands require cheats to be enabled. These summon commands use the entity identifiers defined by the behavior pack:
/summon master:shadow — summon Demon’s Shadow.
/summon master:midnight — summon Midnight Shadow.
/summon master:stalker — summon The Shadow Stalker.
/summon master:devil — summon The Black Devil.
/summon master:trader — summon The Trader.
/summon master:ghost — summon Friendly Ghost.
/function darknessplayee — run the included function that applies Darkness.
/function spottedshadow — run the included Shadow encounter function.
Some included functions apply effects to multiple entities or players. Test them in a copy of your world before using them in a long-running survival world.
- Back up the world you intend to use.
- Import the add-on package if it is provided as an importable Bedrock pack. If you have separate pack folders, install each pack through the method supported by your platform, keeping each manifest at the root of its pack.
- Open Minecraft and edit the target world.
- In the world settings, activate The Shadows of Midnight Remaster v2 under Behavior Packs.
- Activate the matching The Shadows of Midnight Remaster v2 under Resource Packs.
- Confirm that both packs are enabled, then enter the world and test with a summon command if needed.
- If Minecraft displays a script or creator-feature requirement for your particular build, follow the prompt shown by that build. The behavior-pack manifest declares dependencies on Minecraft server modules.
Load order: The behavior pack depends on the matching resource pack, so enable both together. There is no special ordering requirement between these two packs stated in their manifests. If another add-on overrides the same entity identifiers or visual assets, place The Shadows of Midnight above the conflicting pack in the relevant pack list, then test for conflicts.
| Bedrock version |
Assessment |
Reason |
| Versions earlier than 1.17.0 |
Not supported |
Both pack manifests declare 1.17.0 as the minimum engine version. |
| 1.17.0 |
Declared minimum |
This is the minimum version stated in both manifests. The behavior pack also requests specific Minecraft scripting modules, so confirm those dependencies are available in the build you use. |
| 1.17.1 through 1.20.x |
Partial; verify in-game |
The manifests do not list a tested version range. Entity components and script-module availability can vary between releases. |
| 1.21.x through 1.26+ |
Not confirmed; test first |
The pack files specify a minimum version but do not certify compatibility with these later versions. Test both packs in a new or backed-up world before relying on them. |
The compatibility ratings above reflect the pack metadata, not a claim that every version has been tested. The add-on’s manifests do not specify an upper supported version.
- Entities do not appear naturally: Confirm that the Behavior Pack is active, mob spawning is enabled, and you are in the Overworld. Spawn conditions include darkness and underground checks.
- Entity names or textures are missing: Activate the matching Resource Pack as well as the Behavior Pack. Check for another resource pack overriding the same entity assets.
- The Ghost recipe does not appear: Confirm that the Behavior Pack is active and place the exact ingredients in the crafting-table pattern. No other custom spawn-egg recipes are included in the pack files.
- The Trader does not open a trade window: Make sure you are interacting with
master:trader, not another entity, and verify that the behavior pack loaded successfully.
- A command says the entity is unknown: Check spelling and the
master: namespace. Confirm the behavior pack is enabled before running the command.
- The add-on fails after a Minecraft update: Test the packs in a copy of the world, review any scripting or content errors shown by Minecraft, and check that the required scripting modules are available in that version.
- Another add-on changes the creatures: Check for duplicate entity identifiers or overlapping resource files. Adjust the relevant pack priority or disable the conflicting add-on for testing.
- Does this add-on add dragons? No. It adds six shadow-themed entities and a Trader.
- Can I hatch the Ghost egg? No. It is a spawn egg used to summon the Ghost, not an egg that incubates or hatches.
- Can I tame all six entities? The Ghost entity has a taming component. The other entity definitions do not establish the same taming feature.
- Can I ride or fly on a creature? No rideable or flying mount system is defined in the included entity files.
- Are the monsters easy to defeat? They are configured as hostile melee threats with high health and 21 attack damage on several entities. The Shadow and Stalker can also apply status effects.
- Do I need both packs? Yes. The Behavior Pack provides gameplay logic; the Resource Pack provides the matching visuals, sounds, and names.
- Does it work on Minecraft 1.26+? The manifests do not confirm that version. They declare a minimum engine version of 1.17.0, so test both packs in a backup world before playing on 1.26+.
