Return to Jurassic World is a two-pack Minecraft Bedrock add-on built around paleontology and dinosaur revival. Explore its dinosaur roster, process fossils into DNA, create embryos, hatch eggs, and build anti-dinosaur equipment. Its intended research loop is supported by dedicated machines, while vehicles and hybrid creatures add more ways to explore and experiment.
The add-on combines dinosaur entities, fossils, DNA, embryos, laboratory stations, equipment, and drivable vehicles. Its core progression is to acquire fossils, clean and analyze them, combine dinosaur DNA with frog DNA to create embryos, and use an empty egg with an embryo to produce a dinosaur egg.
- The included packs declare Minecraft Bedrock 1.17.0 as their minimum engine version.
- The pack data contains fossil-cleaning, DNA-extraction, sequencing, hybridizing, and incubation recipes.
- Some creature interactions and ride features are inconsistent or not documented clearly in the files. Check them in a test world before relying on them.
- The files do not confirm a flying dinosaur or a complete in-game tutorial for finding fossils.

- First check the Creative inventory for the add-on’s fossils, DNA, machines, eggs, equipment, and vehicle spawn items.
- In Survival, use the crafting recipes below to make the laboratory stations and other craftable items.
- The pack files do not clearly specify a complete world-generation or mining method for every fossil. If you cannot find fossils naturally, use Creative mode to test the research system.
- Obtain a raw fossil and process it in the Fossil Cleaner to get the matching cleaned fossil.
- Place the cleaned fossil in the DNA Extractor to obtain DNA for that species.
- Use the Sequencer with three matching dinosaur DNA items and three Frog DNA items to create a species embryo. The hybrid recipes use their listed parent DNA instead.
- Craft an Empty Egg from a vanilla egg, then combine the Empty Egg and embryo in the Incubator.
- Place or use the resulting species egg as you would other add-on eggs. The files do not specify a reliable incubation time or a required block setup, so test this in a copy of your world first.
- Baby and juvenile entity files exist for several species, but the pack does not provide a clear universal feeding or growth guide.
- A Training Clicker item is included, but its item definition alone does not establish a complete taming process. Try it with a non-hostile test creature before using it on a valuable dinosaur.
- The Capture item has use and hit events intended to capture and release nearby entities. Its behavior uses tags, effects, and teleportation, so test it carefully; it may not work as a safe storage system for every creature.
- A Stun Stick is included, and the Triceratops entity data references it in a sleep/stun interaction. Do not assume every dinosaur reacts the same way.
- The Triceratops, Parasaurolophus, Biosyn Giganotosaurus, Jeep, and Ford Explorer have rideable-related entity data.
- To test riding, approach the creature or vehicle and use the available interact or mount control for your version of Bedrock. If no mount prompt appears, that entity may not support riding correctly in that version.
- The files do not confirm a flying creature or provide flight controls. No flight instructions can be verified from the add-on data.
- Fossils are the starting material for the research chain. The add-on includes raw and cleaned fossil items for multiple dinosaur species.
- Frog DNA is used in the documented embryo recipes. The pack includes a syringe and a blood-filled frog syringe item, but the exact in-world collection method is not clearly described.
- For a reliable first playthrough, use Creative mode to check the item names and test each machine before starting a long Survival progression.
Machine recipes below are shaped recipes made in a Crafting Table unless stated otherwise. In a pattern, each letter represents one ingredient; a space is an empty slot. Species-specific research recipes use the same process with the matching species’ item IDs.

- Back up the world you plan to use, especially if it already contains other add-ons.
- Import both the Behavior Pack and Resource Pack files into Minecraft Bedrock. If they are provided together in an add-on package, open that package to import it.
- Open the world settings and activate the Return to Jurassic World Behavior Pack.
- Activate the matching Return to Jurassic World Resource Pack. The packs declare dependencies on each other, so install and enable both.
- If another add-on changes the same entities, items, or textures, test with Return to Jurassic World above conflicting packs in the relevant pack list. The files do not specify a special multi-pack load order beyond their dependency relationship.
- Enable any experimental options only if Minecraft prompts for them or the add-on requires them in your version.
- Enter the world and check the Creative inventory for the machines, fossils, equipment, eggs, and spawn items. Test the research chain before starting a Survival playthrough.
The manifests declare a minimum engine version of 1.17.0. This is a declared minimum, not a guarantee that every game release has been tested. Compatibility must be confirmed in the target Minecraft version.
| Minecraft Bedrock version |
Status |
Reason |
| Versions older than 1.17 |
Not supported |
Below the minimum engine version declared in both pack manifests. |
| 1.17 through 1.20 |
Partially supported / unverified |
Within or above the declared minimum, but the pack has not been runtime-tested across these releases. |
| 1.21 through 1.26+ |
Partially supported / unverified |
The packs declare an older minimum version and use older format versions. Newer engine changes may affect recipes, entities, or item components. |
- Items or creatures are missing: Confirm that both packs are enabled and that the Behavior Pack and Resource Pack dependencies were imported successfully.
- Textures are missing: Enable the matching Resource Pack and move conflicting texture packs below it while testing.
- Recipes do not appear: Confirm you are using the correct station. Fossil, DNA, embryo, and egg recipes use their dedicated stations rather than a Crafting Table.
- A recipe still fails: Check that you have the correct species-specific fossil, DNA, or embryo. Similar names do not necessarily represent interchangeable items.
- An egg does not hatch: Test the egg in a fresh copy of the world and check whether the installed Minecraft version supports the add-on’s egg entity and incubation behavior.
- A dinosaur cannot be ridden or tamed: Rideable and interaction support varies by entity. The add-on files do not define a universal taming or riding system.
- A command says the entity is unknown: Confirm the exact identifier in the installed version. Some add-on display names and internal identifiers differ.
- The world becomes unstable: Disable the add-on in a copy of the world first. Do not remove packs from an important world without backing it up.
- Do I need both packs? Yes. The Behavior Pack provides gameplay content, and the Resource Pack provides the linked visual and audio assets.
- How do I make a dinosaur egg? Create a species embryo in the Sequencer, craft an Empty Egg from a vanilla egg, and combine them in the Incubator.
- Can every dinosaur be tamed? A universal taming process is not documented. The Training Clicker is included, but its complete effect is not verified.
- Can I ride or fly dinosaurs? Rideable data exists for a limited set of creatures. Flying support is not confirmed in the add-on files.
- Can I build and drive a car? Jeep and Ford Explorer vehicle entities are included. The files include vehicle parts but do not establish a complete vehicle assembly recipe.
- Does the add-on work on Minecraft 1.26+? The manifests specify a minimum engine version of 1.17.0, but compatibility with 1.26+ is not guaranteed without testing in that release.
