4. Basic gameplay instructions
Receiving items
- Activate both packs in a test world with cheats enabled.
- Use the creative inventory and search for the ArkCraft display name, or use the exact identifier in a command such as
/give @s arkcraft:cryopod. - Craft normal items at a crafting table and special ArkCraft items at a Smithy when the recipe tag is
smithy. - Craft or obtain the Tame Guide first. It is made from two leather pieces and is useful when learning creature food rules.
Hatching eggs
- Obtain a nest egg such as a Wyvern, Rock Drake, Magmasaur, Deinonychus or Velonasaur egg when that creature supports it.
- Prepare a safe, enclosed temperature-controlled area. Use the Tek Incubator where available; its recipe uses Termic Wool, Ovogenesis Modules, Iron Blocks and a Netherite Ingot.
- Place the egg or incubator and wait for the entity's incubation process. Keep the area loaded and protect the egg from hostile mobs.
- After hatching, feed the baby with the valid diet for its family. The UI can show valid sleeping tame foods and current food values.
Raising and breeding
- Keep young creatures fed and near a feeder when the species supports the feeder system.
- Use the breeding and ovogenesis systems for compatible adults. Stats include health, damage, speed, oxygen, food efficiency and fertility.
- Use cryopods to store a creature safely. A cryopod is a Smithy recipe made with Glass, Redstone, Iron Ingots and Oil.
- Use the creature interaction UI to inspect level, gender, owner, food, torpor, effects, following state and movement state.
Taming
- Find a wild creature and identify its family and diet. Carnivore, herbivore, insectivore, aquatic and special diets use different foods.
- For knockout taming, use a club, tranquilizing arrows or other configured tools, then feed the unconscious creature valid food and protect it until taming completes.
- For passive or sleeping taming, use the valid food list shown by the stats UI. Sneak-interact with the sleeping creature to inspect progress.
- Some creatures cannot be tamed by the ordinary sleeping method and explicitly show a warning in the UI. Follow their special food or interaction rule.
- After taming, rename the creature, check its owner and equip the saddle accepted by that species.
Riding and flying
- Tame the creature and craft its configured saddle: for example Medium Carnivore, Big Carnivore, Big Herbivore, Argentavis, Arthropod, Big Fantasy or a species-specific saddle.
- Place the saddle in the creature's saddle slot and interact to mount. A rideable component is only present on configured creatures.
- For flyers, use the movement controls supplied by Bedrock and the creature's flight profile. Argentavis, Quetzalcoatlus, Wyverns and other flyers do not all share the same speed or attack controls.
- Use a Whistle Menu, Follow Horn or Force Tame Whistle when the corresponding item is available. The built-in function for the force tame whistle gives
arkcraft:force_tame_whistle.
Collecting materials
- Use the Sickle for fiber and plant materials, the Axe and Chainsaw for wood, the Drill for stone or metal work, and the Fishing Net or Fishing Spear for aquatic resources.
- Oil, raw and cooked Ark meat, raw and cooked Ark fish, cactus, pelt, chitin-like materials, crystals and special drops are used throughout the recipes.
- Use the food jar, oil jar, buckets and storage items to preserve, transport or process resources.
- Check the recipe folder if a resource name is not obvious; the pack contains separate recipes for raw, cooked, processed and tiered versions.
5. Crafting recipe reference
The Behavior Pack contains 161 recipe files. Most recipes are shaped recipes, and saddle, cryopod, incubator, taming and advanced tools use the Smithy tag. ArkCraft Behavior 1.5.1/recipes. For example, the Cryopod pattern is Glass-Redstone-Glass, Iron-Glass-Iron, Oil-Iron-Oil. The Argentavis Saddle uses leather horse armor, colored wool, an Iron Block and Leads. The Tek Incubator uses Termic Wool, Ovogenesis Modules, Iron Blocks and a Netherite Ingot.
6. Special equipment effects
| Equipment | Effect or purpose |

8. Installation steps
- Back up the world before installing the addon.
- Import or copy both pack folders into Minecraft Bedrock's development or behavior/resource pack locations as appropriate for your platform.
- Create a new test world, open Behavior Packs, and activate ArkCraft Behavior 1.5.1.
- Open Resource Packs and activate ArkCraft Resource 1.5.1.
- Keep the matching Resource Pack directly above the matching Behavior Pack when the UI displays pack order. The important dependency rule is that the Resource Pack must resolve to Behavior Pack UUID
e77781f2-7abd-4746-a600-93829e6a9cd4. - Enable the experiments or scripting options requested by your Bedrock version if the world reports that a script dependency cannot start.
- Enable cheats for testing commands, then enter the world and verify that ArkCraft spawn eggs, names, sounds and the Tame Guide are available.
- Do not combine this installation with another addon that replaces the same ArkCraft namespace, entity identifiers, recipes or scripts.
9. Minecraft Bedrock compatibility
| Version range | Compatibility | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1.19.0-1.19.39 | Not supported | Below the Behavior Pack minimum engine version 1.19.40. |
| 1.19.40-1.20.31 | Partial | Behavior Pack minimum is met, but the Resource Pack declares 1.20.32. |
| 1.20.32-1.20.x | Supported baseline | Both declared minimum engine versions are met. |
| 1.21.x | Generally supported | Uses modern Bedrock scripting APIs, but test on the exact release because API behavior can change. |
| 1.26+ | Expected with testing | The pack is marked for MCPE 1.26+ in its distribution name, but its manifest minimums are older and no 1.26-specific guarantee is declared in the files. |
10. Common troubleshooting
- Missing textures or purple entities: confirm that the matching Resource Pack is enabled and above the Behavior Pack.
- Entities do not spawn: check difficulty, biome, light level, spawn rules and whether another addon changes the same mob cap.
- Recipes do not appear: use the correct workstation. Many recipes are tagged
smithy, not the vanilla crafting table. - Scripts fail to load: verify the Bedrock version, dependency versions, experiments and that both pack UUIDs are from the same 1.5.1 release.
- A creature cannot be ridden: tame it first, equip the exact saddle family and confirm that the entity is configured as rideable.
- Taming stops: use the food list in the creature UI, keep the creature loaded, prevent damage and avoid feeding an invalid food.
- Eggs do not hatch: keep the chunk loaded, use the supported incubator or temperature setup and do not rename or replace the egg identifier.
- World becomes slow: reduce the number of active creatures, feeders, projectiles and scripted effects, and test with other addons disabled.
11. Frequently asked questions
- Do I need both packs?
- Yes. The Behavior Pack supplies gameplay and the Resource Pack supplies the visual and audio assets.
- Can I use only the Resource Pack?
- No. It depends on the matching Behavior Pack and will not provide the addon mechanics alone.
- Are all creatures tameable?
- No. Taming rules are creature-specific. The UI reports valid foods and warns when sleeping taming is unavailable.
- Can every creature fly?
- No. Only entities configured with flight behavior and a compatible saddle can be controlled in the air.
- Where can I find exact recipes?
- Open the JSON files in the Behavior Pack's
recipesfolder. The guide's recipe table groups every included recipe family. - Can I use commands in survival?
- Only when cheats or operator permissions are enabled. Commands and force-tame utilities can change progression and should be reserved for testing or administration.
