Amazing Dungeons Addon for Minecraft PE (1.20+).mcaddon
Minecraft Dungeons Addon is a large Bedrock Edition expansion that brings Minecraft Dungeons inspired mobs, bosses, weapons, armor, artifacts, structures, blocks, sounds and adventure systems into Minecraft PE. The pack is divided into a DATA Behavior Pack and an ASSETS Resource Pack, so both packages are required for the intended experience. Amazing Dungeons Addon for Minecraft PE (1.20+)

1. Addon Overview

  • The DATA pack contains JavaScript behavior, entities, items, recipes, loot tables, functions, structures and gameplay systems.
  • The ASSETS pack contains textures, models, animations, sounds, particles, UI resources and render controllers.
  • The addon includes Minecraft Dungeons themed equipment, artifacts, hostile mobs, bosses, merchants, decorative blocks and level inspired structures.
  • Some artifacts use souls. The soul bar fills when the player kills mobs and receives experience. Soul Knife, Eternal Knife and Truthseeker can help fill it faster.
  • The documented DATA version is 1.5.0. The documented ASSETS version is 5.2.7. Both packs require a minimum engine version of 1.19.10.

2. Packages Included

Package Folder Type Version Purpose
Minecraft Dungeons Addon DATA MinecraftDungeonsData/MinecraftDB Behavior Pack with JavaScript module 1.5.0 Gameplay, entities, items, recipes, functions and loot
Minecraft Dungeons Addon ASSETS MinecraftDungeonsTextures/MinecraftD Resource Pack 5.2.7 Textures, sounds, models, animations and user interface
The DATA pack declares a dependency on the ASSETS pack and on the Minecraft server beta module version 1.1.0. Keep the two addon packages together.

3. New Mobs, Creatures and Dragons

Group Examples Description
Bosses and major enemies Ancient Guardian, Enderman Boss, Heart of Ender, Jungle Abomination, Mooshroom Monstrosity, Obsidian Monstrosity, Perfect Form and Evoker Boss Large encounters with custom models, attacks, animations or special phases.
Illagers and undead Arch Illager, Illusioner, Geomancer, Enchanter, Executioner, Necromancer, Drowned Necromancer, Nameless One, armored skeletons and armored vindicators Dungeon themed enemies with variants, equipment and enchantment states.
Jungle and nature enemies Leapleaf, Jungle Abomination, Abomination Vine, Entangle Vine, Whisperer, Fungus Thrower and Jungle Zombie Jungle themed mobs and hazards inspired by Jungle Awakens content.
Ice and mountain enemies Iceologer, Icy Creeper, Icy Spider, Icy Golem, Icy Large Golem, Tempest Golem and Squall Golem Cold region enemies with ice, wind or ranged attacks.
Nether and fire enemies Dungeons Blaze, Igniter, Magma Golem, Baby Ghast, Giant Ghast and Enchanted Piglin Hunter Nether themed hostile creatures and spawners.
Special creatures Firefly, Clam, Lion Fish, Penguin, Otter, Jolly Llama, Jumbo Rabbit, Moobloom, Moolip and Chicken variants Decorative, passive, variant or biome themed creatures.
Utility and NPC entities Blacksmith, Gift Wrapper, Gildsmith, Luxury Merchant, Mystery Merchant, Illager Bartender, Illager Waiter and Mob Spawner Trading, decoration, reward or world interaction entities.
Keys and dungeon objects Diamond Key Golem, Gold Key Golem, Ominous Key Golem, Ancient Mine, Arena Spawner and Blaze Spawner Dungeon objectives, hazards, encounters and progression objects.
The feature document is marked as unfinished, so the table gives the main documented groups rather than claiming that it is a complete internal entity registry. Entity names can change between addon releases.

4. How to Obtain and Use Content

  1. Import both addon packages into Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Activate the DATA pack and ASSETS pack in the same world.
  2. Enable the experimental features requested by the current Bedrock release if the world displays a pack warning. The DATA pack uses a JavaScript server module.
  3. Use the creative inventory and the addon recipe book to locate custom weapons, armor, artifacts, keys, chests, blocks and utility items.
  4. For direct testing, use the provided function files from a command-enabled world. The all_items function gives sample storymode items, weapons, books, materials and ice items.
  5. Use the chests function to receive common, emerald, large box, fancy, obsidian and mission loot chests.
  6. Use the More_blocks function to receive selected decorative blocks and materials such as scute blocks, blaze bricks, rainbow blocks, chocolate, milk bottles and banana bundles.
  7. To use soul artifacts, kill mobs and collect the experience they drop until the soul bar is filled. Artifacts marked with the soul icon depend on this bar.
  8. For mobs, use the creative spawn egg when available or use the entity identifier shown by the current addon version. Some entities are intended to appear through structures, spawners, encounters or loot.
  9. The addon files do not provide a universal dragon egg hatching system or a universal breeding guide. Do not assume that every creature can be bred, tamed, ridden or flown. Check the entity behavior and its spawn egg in the installed release.
  10. Riding and flying are entity specific. If an entity has a mount component, use the normal Bedrock interaction. If it has no mount component, it cannot be ridden merely because its model looks like a mount.
  11. Collect addon materials through crafting, loot chests, mob drops, structures, merchants and the creative inventory. The exact source depends on the individual item and loot table.

5. Crafting Recipe Reference

The DATA pack contains a large recipe catalogue. The following table lists the identifiable recipe families and representative outputs. Recipes whose filenames are generated custom hashes are still available through the addon recipe book, but their ingredient names should be checked in game because the filename does not describe the output.
Recipe family Documented outputs How to use the recipe list
Weapons Fortune Spear, Heartstealer, Dark Katana, Master Katana, Royal Sword, Savage Cleaver, Hammer, Grapple Crossbow, Harp Crossbow, Nightmare Crossbow and TNT Crossbow Search the recipe book for the output name and use the displayed ingredients.
Armor and equipment Hunter's Armor, Plate Armor, Phantom Armor, Wolf Armor and Evocation Robe Open the addon recipe book and craft each armor piece if its recipe is enabled in the release.
Artifacts and utility items Bee Nest artifact, Love Medallion, Key, Lock, Magnifying Glass, Firefly Lantern, Gateway items, Lantern items and Rotator Use the matching artifact or utility recipe shown in the recipe book.
Dungeon gates and transport Coral Gate, Gateway, Gold Door, Ocean Door, Pickle Gate, Elevator, Ship and Sailboat Craft the base gate or transport item, then use its return or directional variant where provided.
Blocks and materials Chiseled Scute, Scute Pavement, Scute Shingles, Chocolate Block, Honeycomb, Rainbow Bricks, Rainbow Lamp, Mossy Deepslate Bricks and Blaze Bricks Use the standard crafting table or stonecutter recipe indicated by the recipe book.
Food and farming Banana Bundle, Burger, Chocolate Strawberries, Fish, Old Fish, Apple, Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Milk, Milkshake and Rotten Apple Recipes are distributed across the main recipe folder and its food subfolders.
Stonecutter recipes Ice Fort bricks, Obsidian slabs and stairs, Prismarine patterns, Pebble items, Stone Brick tiles and pillar variants Use a stonecutter and select the addon material.
  • Do not remove the recipe folders when packaging the addon. The DATA pack includes hundreds of named and generated recipe files.
  • Some custom items are intended to be obtained from loot, merchants, functions or structures rather than from a normal crafting recipe.

6. Special Equipment Effects

Equipment or system Effect
Soul artifacts Consume or depend on the player's soul bar. The bar gains charge from mob kills and experience.
Soul Knife, Eternal Knife and Truthseeker Designed to fill the soul bar more quickly than ordinary equipment.
Artifacts Provide active or passive Minecraft Dungeons inspired abilities. Availability and exact behavior can vary by artifact.
Enchanted equipment and mobs Use enchanted variants with stronger or altered combat behavior where the addon defines that variant.
Grapple crossbows Provide custom grappling or projectile themed behavior when the corresponding behavior and resource files are active.
Custom armor Uses attachables and custom models to display Minecraft Dungeons themed armor.

7. Useful Commands and Functions

Command or function Purpose Example
Function command Runs a saved function in a command-enabled world. /function all_items
all_items Gives a selection of storymode items, enchanted tools, prismarine tools, flint and steel variants, books and materials. /function all_items
chests Gives six addon chest types. /function chests
More_blocks Gives selected addon building blocks and materials. /function More_blocks
give Directly gives an item when its namespace and identifier are known. /give @s mcd:rainbow_bricks
summon Summons an entity when its identifier is known from the current release. /summon <entity_identifier>
sound event Plays an included sound or level narration when the event is supported by the current Bedrock build. /playsound narration.level.jungle @s
Use command names exactly as they appear in the DATA pack. The included command list documents level narration sound events such as narration.level.jungle, narration.level.ice, narration.level.mountain and narration.level.end_wilds.

8. Installation Steps

  1. Make a backup of the world before installing the addon.
  2. Import the DATA package and wait for Minecraft to confirm the import.
  3. Import the ASSETS package and wait for Minecraft to confirm the import.
  4. Create a new test world before modifying an important survival world.
  5. Open the world settings and activate the DATA pack under Behavior Packs.
  6. Activate the ASSETS pack under Resource Packs.
  7. Keep the DATA pack above unrelated behavior packs when Minecraft asks for a priority order.
  8. Keep the matching ASSETS pack active and above unrelated resource packs that replace the same models, textures, sounds or UI files.
  9. Enable the experimental features requested by the release, then enter the world and test one item, one mob and one function.
  10. If the world reports a dependency error, remove and reimport both packages, then activate the ASSETS pack together with the DATA pack.
Load Order note: the DATA pack depends on the ASSETS pack UUID. Do not use the DATA pack by itself. When another addon changes the same entity, item, animation, sound or UI files, place the pack whose assets you want to see at higher priority and test for conflicts.

9. Minecraft PE Compatibility

Bedrock version Compatibility Reason
1.19.10 Partial This is the declared minimum engine version, but newer content may not behave identically.
1.19.20 to 1.19.83 Partial The minimum engine requirement is met, but JavaScript, UI and custom component behavior can differ.
1.20.0 to 1.20.81 Good The addon is targeted at Minecraft PE 1.20 and the documented minimum is lower than this range.
1.21.0 to 1.21.93 Partial Most content may load, but beta APIs, experiments and changed Bedrock components can cause issues.
1.21.100 to 1.21.130 Partial Test in a copied world because newer engine changes can affect scripts, recipes, entities and render controllers.
1.26 and newer Not officially supported The addon manifest does not declare or test this range. Compatibility cannot be guaranteed without an updated release.
The colors in this table apply to the text only. They do not fill the table cells.

10. Common Troubleshooting

  • If textures are missing, activate the ASSETS pack and confirm that it is the matching resource dependency.
  • If custom items appear invisible or use vanilla textures, move the ASSETS pack above conflicting resource packs.
  • If mobs do not spawn, check experiments, behavior pack priority, spawn eggs and the entity identifier used by the installed release.
  • If recipes are missing, confirm that the DATA pack is active and search the addon recipe book instead of the vanilla recipe book.
  • If artifacts do not work, charge the soul bar by killing mobs and collecting experience. Not every artifact uses souls.
  • If the game lags, reduce simulation distance, render distance and other heavy addons. The included performance note warns that mobile devices may lag.
  • If the game crashes, remove conflicting packs from a copy of the world, test the two required packs alone and check whether the Bedrock version supports the required server API.
  • If a world becomes unstable after updating Minecraft, test the addon in a new world. Older experimental worlds may retain incompatible behavior data.

11. Frequently Asked Questions

Are both packages required?
Yes. DATA provides behavior and ASSETS provides the matching visual and audio resources.
Does the addon add every Minecraft Dungeons feature?
Its stated goal is to add mobs, gear, artifacts and some level structures, but the feature document says the entity list is unfinished.
Can every mob be tamed or bred?
No. Taming and breeding are entity specific and are not universal addon mechanics.
Can every dragon or large creature fly?
No. Flying requires an explicit movement or ride implementation in that entity's behavior.
Why are some artifacts inactive?
Some artifacts require soul charge. Kill mobs and collect experience to fill the soul bar.
Does the addon support Minecraft 1.26?
There is no official 1.26 declaration in the manifests, so 1.26 and newer versions are unsupported until tested and updated.
Who created the addon?
The manifest credits EmptyCoso as the author. The credits file also lists many contributors and asset creators.
